I can use a clear speaking voice when I story tell. Description: · Using wordless picture books and know picture books, children will use their creativity to story tell. After days of practice, children will work in pairs to story tell three panel of pictures (that does not have any words) in their own words, expression and tone in the form of a story. This will then be recorded on a Flip Camera. Materials: · Flip Camera · Multiple copies of any appropriate wordless picture books and known picture books · Appropriate panels of pictures that have a sequential order with no words. Timeframe: 4 sessions of 20-25 minutes Procedure: · Day 1: Introduce the concept of storytelling by using anchor chart. Teacher models with a known picture book of techniques to do when doing storytelling. Children practice with another known picture book in pairs. Separate pairs by ones and twos. Ones go first then twos. Debrief. · Day 2: Revisit the concept of storytelling. Teacher models again with another known picture book. Children practice again in pairs with a different picture book. Separate pairs by ones and twos. Ones go first then twos. Debrief. · Day 3: Revisit the concept of storytelling. Teacher models again with another known picture book. Children practice again in pairs with a different picture book. Separate pairs by ones and twos. Ones go first then twos. Debrief. · Day 4: Review the concept of storytelling by using anchor chart. Place children into pairs. Give each pair a wordless picture book to become familiar. Re-pair pairs and have children story tell their wordless picture book. Use a Flip Camera to capture storytelling techniques. Debrief. o Variation: children who are not the best of speakers work in a small group with the same book and then have them practice story telling the same story to each other by following the tips modeled by the teacher. · Debriefing questions: o How did you feel when you story told? o What was challenging? o What did you find fun about the work we did? Assessment: · Teacher observations and Flip Camera will be used as an assessment tool to see if children have met the three learning targets.
